Community Concerns Committee

The Community Concerns Committee plans and provides programs, activities and resources that are related to social and civic issues for foundation members and members of the community.


Programs include:

  • MLK Day of Service
  • Sankofa Workshops
  • Juneteenth Event
  • Tree planting
  • Day of Service at Fairfax Place Nursing Home
  • Period Poverty Project, providing feminine products to underserved women
  • Wall of Love, supplies attached to a fence for the homeless
  • Christmas activity for senior residents of Ivy Plaza
  • Uplifting our community
  • Enhancing our environment

ENHANCING OUR ENVIRONMENT

Members of Alpha Omega Foundation collaborated with Omega chapter, AKAdemy, Youth Leadership Institute students and Revolutionary Love Garden to plant trees.

Wall of Love

The Community Concerns Committee, on Saturday, November 2, 2024, placed hundreds of items on the wall at the Lee-Harvard Shopping Center for the community to take.



September Sankofa Workshop

The Community Concerns Committee held our annual September Sankofa Workshop on September 14, 2024 at the YWCA of Greater Cleveland. The workshop focused on diabetes, job preparation, budgeting, a makeup demonstration, and a fashion show. Tonya Perkins-Stoudemire from Bessie’s Angels was the keynote speaker. 

We donated 48 purses and 36 blazers and cardigans. We also received gift bags from Saks Fifth Avenue, hygiene bags from Dress for Success Cleveland, and makeup bags from Halo Fashions
