The Alpha Omega Foundation, Incorporated was incorporated  by the State of Ohio on November 7, 1983, by the members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated., Alpha Omega Chapter in Cleveland, Ohio.  The purpose of the non-profit 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization is to provide scholarships, deliver programs and services to the underserved community in the Greater Cleveland area.

The first meeting was held in 1983, where Annette Hamilton served as the first president of Alpha Omega Foundation. Under the leadership of President Annette Hamilton, the Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. approved establishing a non-profit foundation, a separate entity from the chapter with its own unique operations, bylaws and operating fund. The name of the foundation was Alpha Omega Chapter Incorporated. On December 17, 1989, Dr. Carol Franklin, the Chairman of the Board at the time, submitted  a certificate of Amendment to change the name from Alpha Omega Chapter, Inc. to Alpha Omega Foundation, Inc. The state of Ohio granted the revision on April 20, 1990.

Research was conducted, paperwork filed and fees were submitted for the establishment of the Alpha Omega Foundation Inc. a 501(c)3 public foundation.  On July 13, 1984, the foundation received its 501c3 status from the Department of the Treasury.

The Alpha Omega Foundation, Inc. is committed to leading efforts to address some of the most critical needs of the Greater Cleveland community through community based events focus on empowering our families, economic wealth, enhancing our community, advocating for social justice and uplifting our community.  In addition to our community events and service programs, the foundation awards scholarships annually to graduating seniors who are enrolled in a four year college or university.

The foundation bylaws were adopted to include all members of Alpha Omega Chapter as members of The Alpha Omega Foundation. The president of Alpha Omega Chapter is the Chairman of the Alpha Omega Foundation Board.
